《道德经》第十一章：有之以为利，无之以为用

从车毂、陶器与居室三件日常事物出发，理解老子对"有"与"无"之间互补关系的观察。

1. 原文与版本

本文以一种常见的通行本为主：

三十辐共一毂，当其无，有车之用。

埏埴以为器，当其无，有器之用。

凿户牖以为室，当其无，有室之用。

故有之以为利，无之以为用。

本章在传世诸本中较为稳定，主要异文出现在句尾虚字与个别用字上；马王堆帛书甲、乙本也保存了这一章，内容与通行本大致相当。不同传本在个别字句上有出入，但"三组事物、一句结论"的结构没有根本变化。

以下解释以通行本为主，关键处保留"有""无"二字在训诂上的分歧空间。

2. 三组事物与一句结论

2.1 三十辐共一毂，当其无，有车之用

"辐"是车轮上的辐条，从中心向外连接轮圈；"毂"是车轮中心的圆木，辐条汇聚于此，中间凿空以容纳车轴。"当其无"的"当"常解作"处于、在......之中"，"无"指毂中空处。整句可解为：三十根辐条汇集到一个毂上，正因为毂中留出空孔，车才能装上轴、得以转动和使用。

有人把"无"直接等同于哲学上的"虚无本体"。就本章字面看，这里说的更像是毂中的空处；至于能否推广到抽象层面，见第 3 节的讨论。

三十根辐条插在一个轮毂上，轮毂中间是空的，车轴才能穿过去，车轮才能转起来。如果轮毂是实心的，这车就没法用了。

2.2 埏埴以为器，当其无，有器之用

"埏埴"常解为和泥、揉捏黏土，"器"是器皿。整句是：揉和黏土做成器皿，正因为器皿中间是空的，才能盛放东西，才有器皿的用处。

器皿的外壁是"有"，中空是"无"；没有外壁，黏土不成形；没有中空，它只是实心的一坨，盛不了水粮。

2.3 凿户牖以为室，当其无，有室之用

"户"是门，"牖"是窗，"凿"是开凿。整句是：开凿门窗建造房屋，正因为墙内留出虚空，人才有居住和活动的空间。

2.4 故有之以为利，无之以为用

"利"与"用"在这里有所区分，是本章的题眼。常见解释是："有"提供形体、材质和便利（辐、毂壁、器壁、四壁），"无"则提供真正发挥作用的空间（毂孔、器中空、室内虚空）。

这两者不是对立，而是互补：离开"有"，"无"没有依托；离开"无"，"有"只是实心的材料。老子特意点出常被忽略的"无"，是要提醒人注意"空处"也在起作用，而不是说"有"不重要。

"有"提供条件，"无"才真正发挥作用。

3. 核心思想

有与无互相成就：形体靠空处才能发挥作用，空处也靠形体才得以成立。
空处本身就是作用的一部分：毂孔、器腔、室内的"无"，不是缺漏，而是功能所在。
人常看见"有"，忽视"无"：本章用三个日常例子，把注意力引向被忽略的空虚。
"利"与"用"有别："有"提供便利与依托，"无"提供实际用途，二者分工而非互相排斥。
不必把"无"拔高为神秘本体：字面先落在具体空处；是否通向抽象本原，属后世进一步发挥。

"有"与"无"的分工是阅读归纳，不是原文画出的流程。老子并非贬"有"扬"无"，而是强调二者缺一不可；他只是提醒，通常被看见的是"有"，被漏掉的是"无"。

6. 放到今天怎么看

以下只是现代类比，不等于第十一章原句的唯一历史含义。

职场：把工作留出空隙，才有协作余地

日程排满、角色重叠会挤掉思考与协作的空间。"无"的提醒是：为临时沟通、复盘和突发事项留白，任务反而更顺畅，但留白不是拖延或不填满绩效，截止时间与交付标准仍要清楚，不能以"需要空处"为由推脱应完成的职责。

管理：制度之外，留出容错与授权空间

制度、流程、考核是"有"，提供秩序；但若制度填满一切、事事报批，组织反而僵化。适度的授权、容错和自组织空间是"无"，让制度真正运转起来。不过留出空间不等于取消边界与问责，权限、信息和责任归属仍须明确，不能借"无为"逃避管理责任。

技术：结构的空处决定可扩展性

模块之间留出接口与抽象，系统才能替换和扩展；把每个细节写死、耦合填满，反而难以维护。"无"可类比为预留的接口、抽象层与可替换性。但抽象与留白要建立在真实需求上，不是堆砌空架子；必要的约束、协议和测试仍要落实，不能以"留白"为由不写清楚契约。

人生：留白，而不是把每一天填满

日程、目标和占有的东西是"有"，但休息、发呆、与家人相处这些"空处"才常被忽略。留出无计划的时间，生活才有呼吸感。不过留白不等于逃避安排或放弃目标，对重要的人和事仍要负责；真正的留白是有意识地保留，不是被动的空转。

7. 我的理解

这章最妙的地方，是用三件谁都会碰到的小事，讲一个容易被忽略的道理：我们看东西，总是先看见"有"------轮子、罐子、房子，却很少注意让它们成其为用的那个"空"。

我更愿意把"无"先落在具体的空处来理解，而不是一步跳到形而上的"虚无本体"。王弼一路把"无"读成万物的本根，很有哲学深度；但就本章字面看，老子用的是最朴素的观察：车轴插不进实心的毂，实心的陶坯盛不了水，没有门窗的房间只是封闭的土堆。先有这个常识，再谈抽象也不迟。

"有之以为利，无之以为用"给我最实际的提醒，是别再迷信"把一切填满"。留一点空，不是浪费，而是让东西真正能用起来。

8. 一句话总结

车、器、室三件事都在说同一个道理：形体靠空处才成其用，"有"给便利，"无"给作用；别只盯着看得见的"有"，也要珍惜那个常被忽略的"无"。
