The Exploration Team's Unexpected Challenge
A team of geologists set out for the exploration of a remote mountain area, where local legends said there was a hidden cave with ancient chains hanging on the walls. Before leaving, their leader reminded them: "Our mere goal is to map the land, not to hunt for game---remember, safety is key to survival."
On the third day, they found the cave. One geologist, Tom, couldn't help but glance at the rusted chains; curiosity distracted him from checking the rocky ground. Suddenly, he tripped and fell, leaving a deep wound on his knee. The team's doctor quickly cleaned the wound and warned: "We can't let this induce more problems---we need to move carefully."
As dusk fell, they set up camp. Their food supplies were almost exhausted, so two members went out to look for edible plants (they still refused to hunt game). When they returned, they brought back a small amount of wild fruits---just enough for everyone to have a bite.
That night, they heard distant gunshots. "Could it be poachers?" someone whispered. The leader said firmly: "Don't point fingers at anyone yet. We must stay alert to avoid occupation of our camp by strangers."
The next morning, they decided to head back. Before leaving, the leader held a short meeting: "This trip taught us a lesson---next time, we'll arrange retraining on outdoor safety. No matter how urgent the task is, we can't risk our lives."
勘探队的意外挑战
