Passage 1:

Online learning has become more and more popular among teenagers in recent years. With the help of the Internet, students can study at home or anywhere else they like. They can watch video lessons, do online exercises, and even communicate with teachers and classmates through video calls.

One of the advantages of online learning is flexibility. Students can arrange their study time according to their own schedules. For example, if a student is good at math but weak in English, he can spend more time on English lessons online. Another advantage is that online learning provides a lot of learning resources. Students can access different kinds of courses from top teachers around the world, which is hard to achieve in traditional classrooms.

However, online learning also has some disadvantages. Some students may lack self-discipline and get distracted by games or social media while studying online. Besides, long-time online study is bad for students' eyes and health. What's more, face-to-face communication with teachers and classmates is missing, which may affect students' social skills.

In my opinion, online learning is a useful supplement to traditional learning. We can make good use of its advantages and avoid its disadvantages. For example, students can use online resources to review lessons after school, but they should also attend offline classes to interact with others. Only in this way can we get the most out of our study.

Answer the following questions according to the passage. (15 points)

  1. Why has online learning become popular among teenagers?
  1. What is one advantage of online learning mentioned in the passage?
  1. What problem may students face when studying online?
  1. What is the writer's opinion on online learning?
  1. How can students make the most of their study according to the passage?

Passage 2:

Last year, I joined a volunteer program to help children in a rural area. Those children lived in small villages and had limited access to books and educational resources. When we arrived there, we were surprised by their eagerness to learn. They listened to our lessons carefully and asked many interesting questions.

During the volunteer work, we taught them English, math, and art. We also brought them many storybooks and stationery. Every morning, we walked to the village school through the countryside. The scenery was beautiful---green fields, clear rivers, and friendly villagers. In the evening, we played games with the children and shared stories about our city life.

One of the most unforgettable moments was when a little girl gave me a handmade card. She drew a picture of us holding hands on the card and wrote, "Thank you for coming. I want to be a teacher like you someday." Those words touched my heart deeply.

This volunteer experience made me realize how lucky I am to have a good education. It also taught me the importance of giving help to others. I learned that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone's life. I plan to join more volunteer programs in the future and help more people in need.
